Hecht Electronic AG designs and sells measuring and test systems for the metal and wood-processing industry, predominantly on European and American markets. Through a development partnership with sequa and local partners, the company is now setting the cornerstone for the development of operations on the Belarusian market. Hecht Electronic has equipped a laboratory with measuring and test systems and is training teachers to function as multipliers for state-of-the-art measuring procedures and quality standards in the wood and metal-processing sectors. Together with the Industrial Pedagogical College (IPC) and the Republica¬n Institute for Vocational Training (RIPO) in Minsk, Hecht Electronic and sequa are developing lesson content and materials for the local partners' curricula. In the long term, this will enable knowledge about quality standards and controls to be mainstreamed in Belarus while skilled workers will strengthen the competitiveness of the wood and metal-processing industries.
