Resource conservation and climate protection
Resource conservation and climate protection are high on the agenda of German development cooperation. The ecosystems in developing and emerging countries are home to many species of plants and animals, preserve biological diversity, and contribute to regulating the global climate. Climate change is already posing enormous challenges for these regions. Longer periods of drought are withering crops, while severe storms often flood vast stretches of land. Diseases such as malaria are continuing to spread, and rising sea levels are threatening coastal megacities in particular.
This competition is aimed at enterprises that want, for example, to utilise environmental technology, adopt sustainable and environmentally compatible agriculture and forestry practices, or introduce environmental management systems.
