Innovative Ideas from the Private Sector
The commitment of the private sector in BMZ's partner countries is a matter of great importance for economic, ecological and social progress: companies create jobs and generate income, pay taxes, pass on technical and commercial knowledge and introduce new technologies that have a gentler impact on the environment and the climate. They play a key role in shaping the global value chains that extend from producers in developing countries all the way to consumers.
Here, priority is given to the promotion of broad-impact 'Base of the Pyramid' business models for sustainable development. These business models allow companies to integrate people on low incomes into value chains as producers, or to develop and market products and services for these target groups. Through participatory product development and the involvement of local people in production and sales, employment and earning opportunities are created for poor population groups.
From 15 February 2012, you'll find a link here to the forms and information you need to enter the competition.
